After many calls to Yahoo, I was able to disable the new "Save Card" feature again. The Paypal issue should be resolved now. Thanks for hanging in there.

Problems With Paypal Check-out in Our Yahoo Store
People, who use Paypal as a payment method and don't have a Paypal account yet, will encounter a problem during check-out. The good news is that this is because the Yahoo Store people don't share your credit card information even with Paypal. So you know it's secure. The bad news is that you have to enter your card information (like before) every time you place an order. Or you need to create a Paypal account (for those of you, who don't already have one), but it is not guaranteed that Yahoo will recognize this as a memorized payment method. This is because we recently switched over to a new system that allows returning customers to store their credit card information so that they won't have to re-enter it every time they place a new order. Yahoo tells me they are working on fixing this issue. Sorry about that!

We offer both albums at the incredibly low price of $11.95 each. Both titles are limited editions.

Phillip Lambro's Memoir Available
Although this was not published by Perseverance Press, I feel strongly about this book and want listeners to read it. It's poignant, funny and full of appearances by stars. Especially of note to the film music fan is the chapter about Chinatown, in which the author writes candidly about his experiences with Roman Polanski, Robert Evans, Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway.

CDs Are Too Expensive
I firmly believe that charging $19.95 for a single CD is way too expensive. Therefore, I have cut all the prices for Perseverance CDs down to $15.95 or less, unless it is a CD that cost me a lot of money to produce. So, dig in, and get that CD that you have been holding off on.
Another, BIG, announcement is coming soon from Perseverance.

I picked up the CDs from the plant today, and they look and sound amazing! Nick thought the artwork was too beautiful to obliterate it with his signature, so he signed inside. Puppet Master: The Soundtrack Collection Box Available for Pre-Order at a Special Price
This is the ultimate in Puppet Master music! This 5-disc deluxe box set features the complete scores in chronological order. All original scores from Parts 1-4, 6, 7, 9 & 10 are represented here in digitally re-mastered form. (Parts 5 & 8 had no original scores but were tracked with music from other Puppet Master/ Full Moon features.)
In the case of the first four films, we have gone back to the composer's original 1/2" 4-track analog tapes and digitally transferred them to hard disk. The scores from the other movies were all digital recordings, so we could use those files as they were sent to us by the composers.
The box comes with a 28-page booklet that features in-depth notes about the music for the ten films, as well as interviews with all four composers.

Altough it won't be ready to ship for another three weeks, you can already pre-order your copy of Simon Boswell epic score to the Hallmark mini-series, directed by Nick Willing, who also helmed Simon's Photographing Fairies, the composer's most requested score. The album runs a little under an hour and features the best of the 137 minutes of music Simon composed for the two-parter. It had been compiled by himself and music editor Geoff Foster for a release when the mini-series aired, but the plans were eventually scrapped until Perseverance came along. Once again, to the rescue...

No Song Compilations, Please!
Ever since we released No Retreat, No Surrender, which had a few songs on it, we have been getting inundated with emails from people who want us to release song compilations from obscure movies from the Eighties. We are NOT interested in releasing song soundtrack albums. We are dedicated solely to the preservation and release of film scores, so please don't send us any more emails about Cheap Trick, Eddie Vedder and the like! They go right into the trash. Save yourselves and me the time.

It is 2:40 am Wednesday morning, my time here in Saigon, and I just finished sequencing the Puppetmaster albums. There will now be 5 CDs instead of the announced 4. Ennio Morricone's Red Sonja LP Wanted
We just signed the deal to release this long sought-after score on CD. Unfortunately, the masters are all but lost, so we are looking for the EXPANDED LP that came out on Varese in 1985. We are looking for the LONG LP with 20 tracks clocking in at a little over 50 minutes, NOT the short LP/CD with the two symphonic suites. We just need to borrow it, so we can transfer it to digital files to master the CD from them. In exchange for your help you will receive a thank you credit in the booklet and a free Kickboxer CD. Please send us an email if you can help.

It will feature the complete scores in chronological order with extensive liner notes by Brian Satterwhite and a generous booklet with tons of artwork made available to us by Charles Band of Full Moon. If everything goes as planned, the street date will be July 15, 2010.

I have spent this last weekend overhauling our Yahoo Store by adding track listings, lengths and audio samples to the individual album pages. I have also chosen a new look for it. It's a work in progress as I still need to figure out a few things, such as promotional discounts in the shopping cart, how to use the entire space of the browser window, etc. I hope you like it.

The Runestone Finally Available For Pre-Orders
We are happy and relieved that David Newman's classic horror score is finally available for pre-ordering. The album will be out in late March, and orders are being taken as of today in our Yahoo Store. Sorry, no mp3 samples yet, but I am working on it. The first 50 CDs will be signed by the composer.
I apologize for the long hiatus here at the label, but 2009 was a very bad year for it. Now, we are back with a vengeance. We have a lot of really cool albums planned for 2010. Our next release will be Christopher Young's Unforgettable in its first-ever commercial release. Randall Larson is currently trying to get an interview scheduled with the composer for the liner notes. The booklet is being worked on, and Chris is putting together the music for the CD. Look for it in June.

After a long hiatus here at the label, I am happy to announce that J. Peter Robinson's Expanded Score to John Schlesinger's horror thriller The Believers is out. It adds about 30-40 minutes of music to the original Varese LP, including the groovy jazz piece from the Manhattan night club. The album is limited to 1,000 pressings.
Also arriving today in limited quantity is the promotional release of Craig Safan's long-sought-after music to Fade to Black. This CD is limited to 500 units and features the score in film order, including the end credits song "Heroes Die".
For neither score are autographed copies available. Sorry.

Runestone Re-launch
After months of being on hiatus, David Newman's Runestone score is finally being worked on again. (Don't ask, why.) We still have to find out how much music we have, but we now have the files in competent hands and are eagerly awaiting the final verdict on the tracks. A friend of Daniel Schweiger's (who wrote the liner notes) watched the movie and did a track by track analysis of the score. Thanks to him, we now know exactly where each track goes. It is still being discussed how the album, due to the variance in source and condition of the tracks, will be sequenced.

New Projects for Perseverance
I approached Craig Safan about doing a promo of his score to 1980's Fade to Black, and he was all excited about it. We will be producing 500 copies, which will also cover the CDs that will go to the composer. We are selling the rest on our Web site, as well as in the usual specialty stores, to recoup production costs as Craig won't have to pay for his CDs.
And I just signed the contract with MGM to produce and release a complete version of J. Peter Robinson's chilling score to John Schlesinger's thriller The Believers. This release will be limited to 1000 copies. Peter will go into the studio with our own Chas Ferry to master the album on Tuesday. Rudy Koppl, who is also writing the liner notes, already took some great pictures of the composer. Kim Schimansky is designing the booklet.

Three New Titles Are Available From Us
They have been out for a little while now, but due to our move I haven't had a chance to put them up on the Web site yet.
Donald Rubinstein's Knightriders came out September 18. Although there hasn't been a formal announcement yet, this title has been selling like mad.
Elia Cmiral's Journey to the End of the Night came out last week. This pressing is limited to 500 copies, the first 30 of which are signed by Elia. It's a beautiful score that reminds of Howard Shore and David Arnold.
Edwin Wendler's The Interior, our first ever downloadable album is finally ready. After much footwork by the composer, and the inability of three major aggregators to present the music and booklet in acceptable form, it is now available on iTunes.

Knightriders is Available for Pre-orders
Just to make it clear: This is Knightriders, not Knight Rider, the TV show with David Hasselhoff and the talking car. This is Donald Rubinstein's seminal score to George A. Romero's jousting biker flick that has been in demand ever since the film came out 27 years ago.
As a special treat, Donald has signed the first 100 covers. As usual, please limit 2 signed CDs per customer.

Our first foray into Soul is one of the best albums of its kind I have ever heard. Hunt & Tony Sales toured the world with Iggy Pop, Todd Rundgren, as well as with David Bowie as Tin Machine. This is their first solo album. The tracks were recorded in an empty swimming pool 28 years ago, but they sound as clear and pristine as if they were recorded yesterday. It is an experience like you have rarely lived it. You have to listen to it. It's absolutely fabulous.

Our latest release, Richard Band's orchestral score to the cult classic Mutant, is finally out. To apologize for the long wait, we have a special treat for you. The first 100 people who order this CD will get it signed by the composer. Limit two signed CDs per customer, please. An email notification will go out today.

Director Anthony Minghella Dies at 54
It can happen so quickly! Director Anthony Minghella, who won an Academy Award for directing the 1996 epic The English Patient, has died at age 54, his agent announced today. Variety reports that a spokesman for Mr. Minghella said he suffered a brain hemorrhage on Tuesday morning at Charing Cross Hospital in London, while in for a routine neck operation.
Minghella is survived by his parents, his siblings in the entertainment industry Dominic Minghella and Edana Minghella, two other sisters, his wife, choreographer Carolyn Choa, and two children, Max Minghella and Hannah Minghella. -- Mark Englehart, IMDb staff

Leonard Rosenman Dies
The two-time Oscar winner died today of a heart attack. His score to Ralph Bakshi's animated Lord of the Rings from 1978 remains one of my favorites. He was 83 years old. Is this the beginning of another sad year for the film music community?

Jim Manzie the Second
Once again, I am very excited. That doesn't mean that our other releases make me less happy, but this Jim Manzie compilation has been a passion of mine. The second volume, with selections from NINE of his scores, is out today. I think it is even better than the first one. LIMITED TO 250 COPIES, so make sure you get yours right away. They won't last long!

The First Blues
I spent all day today with our engineer Chas Ferry (who mastered the majority of Perseverance's albums since Remo Williams) in the studio, mastering our first Blues album, Hunt and Tony Sales' Hired Guns. The two brothers, who toured with David Bowie as Tin Machine, as well as Iggy Pop and Todd Rundgren, sound like a mixture of Sam & Dave and The Blues Brothers. In fact, they were scheduled to replace the latter ones on Saturday Night Live im 1980, when Tony had a fatal car accident. He was pronounced dead on the operating table, but came back to life and was in a coma for several weeks. Today, he was in the studio with me. The album is killer! I know it's not a film score, but I am sure we will sell tons of it. Great music!
February 8, 2008
Donald the Second
I just signed the deal to release Donald Rubinstein's Knightriders score on Perseverance. Most likely, it will be out in April. Stay tuned. The score is amazing. Liner notes will include thoughts by Donald and director George Romero.

WHERE WERE YOU???
We had our second signing at Dark Delicacies with (as I would like to think) quite an eclectic group of composers, but nobody came! There were maybe 12 people who showed up. Too bad.

Manzie Promos Out
I am very excited! Part One of my labor of love is out: The Film Music of Jim Manzie, Volume 1, was picked up from the pressing plant yesterday. It came out great!!! This first anthology comprises a cross section of seven of this underrated composer's body of work.
Since this is a promo, with the majority of the batch going to the composer and the directors of the films represented on the CD, we are only able to sell 250 copies here. So when they're gone, they're gone!
I am still working on getting sound files uploaded, so you can hear some samples for yourselves. But trust me, this CD rocks!

Richard Band on Perseverance Records
We have just signed a deal with Richard Band to release his score to the horror cult film Mutant. I picked up the tapes from Richard this morning. We are doing a new digital transfer from the original tapes, so it is not quite clear yet if there will be more or different music on the album than what was on the Varese LP or the ensuing identical CD by Intrada. Plus, there is a surprise. Stay tuned for more.

Martin, Romero and Rubinstein Sink Their Fangs Into Our Label
The next title in our Limited Composers Series will be a re-release of Donald Rubinstein's acclaimed ("one of the 100 coolest film scores of all time") score to George Romero's 1977 horror cult thriller Martin.
Since all the masters have been lost, this album won't have any additional music to the original Level Green CD. I know, bummer. To entice you, however, we are planning a little surprise with the CD. Stay tuned.

Deadly Friend Release Imminent
The long awaited release of Charles Bernstein's orchestral cues from the Wes Craven picture from 1986, is due this week. Included are a handful of remastered electronic cues from the original LP to faciltate the album's flow. But what is really an added bonus is a 35 minute interview of Charles Bernstein and Wes Craven at the end of the album. This should make for some interesting listening. The disc is limited to 1,000 pressings and will be out on Friday.

Karel Svoboda Dead at 69
This is truly a sad time for the film music community. The Czech film composer, who made himself a name in the 70's for children's animated shows on West German TV, shot himself yesterday in his backyard near Prague. Reason, as is speculated, could have been a terminal disease.

No Repressing of Kickboxer
After long deliberation, I have decided not to repress another 500 copies of our bestseller. I appreciate all the words of encouragement to repress, but I felt that in the long run it would be more harmful to this label's reputation if I went back on my word. It is possible that we might do an expanded version at some time in the future, but for now, the initial 500 units are all that will be available. Sorry if you didn't get yours. I hope you can appreciate my decision.

We have located the 2" masters and are currently in the process of re-mixing them for better sound quality. Dr. Phibes Rises Again is finally available!
It only took them 30 years.
Dr. Phibes Rises Again by John Gale
30th Anniversary Limited Edition Original Motion Picture Score

Out now is an expanded release for 1997's Prince Valiant, composed by David Bergeaud. The CD features over 40 minutes of original music from the action/adventure film inspired by the long-running cartoon strip by Hal Foster. This CD was produced as a promotional item for the composer and is not available in stores. We are only selling a few copies to collectors to recoup production costs.
Hot off the press is the release of John Gale's Dr. Phibes Rises Again (1972). This release is the culmination of years' worth of hunting for music sources! It contains over 40 minutes of original score and as an additional bonus the Vincent Price sung rendition of "Over the Rainbow".
Up next is the 1978 remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers by Denny Zeitlin. All original masters were lost, so the music is the same as the original United Artists LP, but we have added a special bonus: a 30 minute interview with composer Denny Zeitlin, in which he talks about his experience scoring the movie. It remains the composer's sole work in film, making it completely unique.
Each disc features a 12-page booklet containing movie stills and artwork, as well as comments from the producer, director and composer, together with liner notes by British film music critic Paul Tonks.
